Like Pinterest and Google Plus, LinkedIn has become yet another social media resource for businesses. LinkedIn is no longer just a way to search for a job, it helps you find connections-- and a business is nothing without a network of connections. Connect to your customers, connect to fellow companies, connect to other business owners, connect to individuals in various industries that may help you promote yours—the potential is limitless. How-To-Use-LinkedIn A company page on LinkedIn cannot follow individuals, or even other companies. It is solely there as a resource for the community to learn about your company. LinkedIn may not let you follow, as other social media sites do, but they do provide you with helpful statistics about your page; such as, how many people an update has reached, the number of interactions you have per post, how you are gaining your followers and such. This allows you to see which posts were the most popular and how to tailor future information. Like Pinterest, LinkedIn may be a surprising outlet for a company to use, but with individuals searching for jobs and companies on a daily basis the added exposure can only help. Here are some added tips from NPU on how to tailor your information for LinkedIn: Be more professional. While other outlets may let you show a more creative side-- see our Pinterest blog if you are interested in showing a more laid back side to your business-- LinkedIn started as a professional tool, and continues today as such. Still allow your company personality to shine through, but be aware it is more of a professional platform. Have your employees list your company under experience.  Having all of your employees list your company will create new connections for you, and it will allow people to put faces to your company name. Update your images. LinkedIn allows for a banner image and a profile picture. Update these images as much as you like—use them as another resource to let people know what is happening with your company. For instance, NPU updated their banner image to a promote our “Move For Hunger” campaign. linkedin-movefor-hunger   Add updates about your business. Because LinkedIn does not allow you to follow others on the site, constant updating of your page is the only way for you to get your company name out there. This can be anything and everything you would want someone to know about your business. Produce as many areas of interest as you can—just because it is more of a professional platform does not mean you cannot continue to think outside-of-the box. Pull from every area you can, you never know what will spark your consumers’ interest. Constantly update your platforms so you are popping up in newsfeeds more and potentially reaching more people. The key to LinkedIn is content, content, content. People will see you as a resource, and that will generate followers.
