There are more steps for the renewing or new notary to remember, and the completion of the application depends on them. So, to make it easier for our Arizona applicants, we have outlined the process as a go-to to ensure you've got a handle on your side of the process. Arizona application process Purchase a Bond You must submit a bond with your application to the Secretary of State, so first things first. Purchase your bond. NPU offers the bond with a free $5,000 E&O policy, a record book, a rectangular self-inking stamp with a free choice of case color and a free fee schedule in our Premium Notary Package. All of these items are required of notaries public in Arizona. Your bond cannot be issued 60 days prior to the expiration of your commission. This rule only affects renewing notaries, you cannot be issued a new commission prior to 60 days to the expiration of your current one. So, if you expire December 31, you cannot receive a new commission before October 31. Notarize One Bond When you complete the web order or the paper order, we mail you a two copies of your notary bond. You will need to have one of them notarized. The notarized bond, the completed application and state fees will be sent to the Secretary of State’s office. Sign as you want your notary commission to be issued. Your signature must match the name on your bond. It must be an original signature on the application and the notarized bond. Feel free to keep a copy of the application or the notarized bond for your own purposes, but send the original to the state. Also, remember all blanks must be completed on the application, and it must be legible. All forms must be filed within 30 (thirty) days of the bond being issued. Otherwise, the bond becomes invalid and you must purchase a new one. NPU emails you your bond immediately after you order it, from that day on you have 30 days to have it filed by the Secretary of State. Receive a Commission Certificate from the State It may take from 4-6 weeks to process your application. (You can expedite it with a $25 fee to the Secretary of State’s office). Once it is processed, you will receive your Commission Certificate in the mail. Only once you send us a copy of your commission certificate, can we process your order and send you your notary stamp.
